Worthians Rugby Football Club

Welcome to Worthians RFC!

Once again we much looking forward to the annual ’older’ versus ‘younger’ Worthians RFC match which is taking place on Sunday 8th September 2013 starting at 2.30pm on the Rugby pitches at Worth School.  This keenly contested annual Rugby match launches the Worthians RFC season and it’s a great time to ‘cut your teeth’ and find out what Worthians RFC is all about; or you can simply come along to support the teams!  If you’re interested in finding out more, then please do contact our Worthians RFC Co-ordinator, Desmond Calnan at dcalnan@tecres.net.

The 2010/11 Season – was perhaps the best ever in the history of Worthians Rugby as they secured the much coveted Surrey League 3 Championship and, with it, promotion to Surrey 2.  The going was to prove much tougher in 2011/12 – and towards the end of the season they were facing the very real prospect of relegation.  A lucky reprieve came at the eleventh hour when a team above Worthians RFC pulled out of the League, which means that they remain in Surrey 2 to fight another campaign during 2012/13.

A very full schedule of 19 fixtures (including Sevens) were played between January and Sepember 2012, culminating on Sunday 9th September 2012 with the annual ’young’ versus ‘oldies’ Worthians match which took place at Worth School.  The Worthian ‘oldies’ won 29-24 in the dying seconds – the final three tries being scored in the last 10 minutes!  This match always proves to be a great afternoon’s entertainment – to which new players and spectators are most welcome.

Here you can read more about the matches played during the 2011-12 Season and also view the List of Players.  You can also read the 2010-11 Season review and view the List of Players - at a time when Worthians RFC was riding on the crest of a wave.

And if you’d like to get involved regularly, please do think about joining us for Worthians RFC Training which takes place every Wednesday evening during the season.  We meet at 7:15pm at Battersea Park, London SW11 in the car park by the Albert Bridge.
