Weekly Events:

School Mass Worthians are most welcome to join the School and the Monastic Community at Mass in the Abbey Church at 5:10pm every Thursday during term-time.

Sunday Parish Mass Worthians are most welcome to join the Monastic Community at the Parish  Mass which takes place every Sunday at 9.30am in the Abbey Church.

Worthians Rugby: Every Wednesday evening - Worthians RFC plays Touch rugby in Fulham: 7pm Hurlingham Park.  Meet in the middle of the 400m track.  Visit www.wobsrugby.com to find out more.

THE FOLLOWING EVENT HAS NOW BEEN POSTPONED TO JULY: A Reception for Worthians living in Gibraltar & Sotogrande, Thursday 25th February 2016 at The Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club.  Hosted by Worth School’s new Head Master, Mr Stuart McPherson, who will be joined by Dom Kevin Taggart, Mr & Mrs Andrew Taylor and Dr & Mrs Duncan Pring.  If you would like to attend this event then please email the Head Master’s PA, Samantha Braund, at sbraund@worth.org.uk

 

The 2016 City Lunch will be held on Thursday 3rd March 2016 at 12:30pm at Vivat Bacchus London Bridge, 4 Hay’s Lane, London SE1 2HB.  As in previous years the menu will consist of terrine, steak and chips and a chocolate pudding, wine, water, coffee and service and will cost approx. £55 per head.   There will be a vegetarian option if we know in advance. If you would like to register your attendance then do please email worthsociety@worth.org.uk  If you or your organisation would like to sponsor the pre-lunch drinks then let us know!

 

Worthian Dubai Dinner, Thursday 17th March 2016, 7pm at Boca, Gate Village 6, Dubai International Financial Centre.  Gordon Pearce, Deputy Head at Worth School, will be in Dubai for a school’s exhibition in March and would like to invite Worthians living and working in the area to dinner.  It’ll be a great opportunity to meet fellow Worthians and catch up on the latest School news. St Mary’s Worthians are invited to come and say farewell to Fr Stephen upon his retirement on Wednesday 23rd March 2016 at 7pm in the Cowdray Room at Worth School.  Drinks and a buffet will be provided.  If you would like to attend then do please click here or email Mary Lou Burge at worthsociety@worth.org.uk

 

Our annual St Benedict’s Day Mass will now be held at 6:30pm on Tuesday 5th April 2016 at St Mary Moorfields Church, 4-5 Eldon Street, London EC2M 7LS (a change to the previously advertised date due to Easter being early this year).  Following Mass, Worth Society will be hosting drinks and eats at Bangers Bar & Grill, Eldon House, 2-12 Wilson Street, London EC2M 2TE.  With the accompaniment of  a Worthian Organ Scholar and Choir, it will be a wonderful occasional for all Worthians and their families.  For catering purposes it would be helpful if you could let us know if you and your family are planning to attend.

 

On Sunday 17th April 2016, the Worth Estate will open its gates to the pubic as part of the National Garden Scheme (NGS).  Worthians are invited to bring their families (and dogs on leads) to walk a short ‘highlights’ route or a longer woodland route around the Worth Estate.  Cost for entry will be £4.50 for adults, children under 16 are free.  The general public will be able to purchase teas in the Whitehead Room, however all Worthians are invited to come to the Cowdray Room where the Worth Society will be hosting a tea exclusively for them.  Do come along and meet up with fellow Worthians and some familiar faces from the Monastic Community.

 

The Class of 1986 30 Year Reunion Dinner will take place on Thursday 12th May 2016 at Worth School.  The evening will start with Mass with the School in the Abbey Church at 5:10pm.  This will be followed by tours of the School and pre-dinner drinks.  You will be a guest of the School at a dinner which will be served at approx 7:30pm and we aim to get some former staff and monks to be with you for the evening.  Do please email Mary Lou Burge at worthsociety@worth.org.uk if you would like to attend.

 

The Class of 1966 50 Year Reunion Lunch will take place on Thursday 30th June 2016 at Worth School.  We invite Worthians from that Class Year and their partners to a special celebration lunch.  The plan is to meet for coffee at 11:30am, followed by tours of the School.  Following the short monastic lunchtime prayer, some former teaching staff and monks will join us for lunch in the Cowdray Room.  Do please get in touch with Mary Lou Burge at worthsociety@worth.org.uk if you would like to attend.

 

The Class of 1996 20 Year Reunion will take place on Friday 8th July 2016.  Barney de Burca (R’96) has very kindly stepped forward to organise this event which will involve a Celebratory Mass at 7pm at St Etheldreda’s Church, Ely Place, London EC1N 5RY followed by Dinner at The Bleeding Heart, Bleeding Heart Yard (off Greville Street), Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8SJ.  The dinner will cost approx. £65 per head for an introductory drink, 3-course meal with wine, water, coffee and service and will be payable on the night.  We will be inviting some monks and house masters as honorary guests.  To RSVP please email Barney de Burca at bdeburca@hotmail.com and cc worthsociety@worth.org.uk  As we have sadly lost contact with several people from this class year do please help spread the word to those you are in contact with.
