The annual Downside Fisher Boxing Club Dinner is to be held at the Brewery, Chiswell Street in the City of London on Wednesday 21st April 2010 from 6.30pm.
The evening is a ‘black tie' event and is a display of amateur boxing at its very best. It is an excellent way of supporting a charity that has been active in a deprived area of London for over a century. As is Downside Fisher's tradition, attendees will be met with a welcoming drink, followed by a three course meal. In addition there will be the boxers' parade prior to eight bouts of three rounds. The evening will be rounded off with a charity auction in aid of Downside Fisher Youth Club. In the past many distinguished businesses have used the occasion for corporate entertaining, but many individuals attend the event as a purely social occasion with colleagues or friends.
Downside Fisher Youth Club works together with young people from inner city backgrounds to provide a varied programme of activities; as diverse as cooking to cheerleading, Thai kick boxing to swimming. It provides an essential service to many locals who would otherwise be sitting, bored, on the street corner.
Lloyd Honeyghan, former member of Downside Amateur Boxing Club and Former world champion, is the guest of Honour. There will undoubtedly be some spectacular contests and it will be great fun. Downside Fisher's President, the Abbot of Downside will be attending this event.
Chris Dick, Chairman of Downside Fisher Youth Club, very much hopes that you might be able to attend or, better still, organise a table for the evening. Please click here to download a booking form.
