News – December 2016

Very sad news has reached us that James Pontifex (C’63) RIP, a Prep School Worthian and one of the 28 founder pupils of Worth Senior School, died peacefully on Thursday 22nd December 2016 in Hungary surrounded by his family.  We send our love and prayers to his brother, Anthony Pontifex (WPS’56), brother-in-law, Michael Agius, and all the family.

What we hope will be the start of a proud tradition began on Wednesday 7th December 2016 with the inaugural Worthians London Carol Service at St Patrick’s Church in Soho Square.  150 Worthians and their families and friends sang heartily with the Worth School Choir, led by Director of Music, Michael Oakley, and Abbey Organist, D’Arcy Trinkwon.  There were also readings given by Worthians spanning the six decades of the School.  All gathered afterwards in the Parish Centre for mulled wine and canapés and everyone agreed it was a magical start to the festive season.  http://www.worthschool.org.uk/latest-news-detail.php?Worthians-Carol-Service-a-huge-success—see-a-gallery-of-pictures-233 and to listen to some of the service click here: https://youtu.be/yYjhH2S2pco

It is with much sadness that we have been informed of the death of  John Franck (R’73) RIP who passed away suddenly on Sunday 4th December 2016.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Rocio, his father Robert, brothers Alan (R’75), Richard (R’79) and Nicholas (R’83) and all the family.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday 14th December at 2pm at St Augustine’s Catholic Church, Crescent Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN1 2LY.
