Worth’s School’s new Head Master, Stuart McPherson, and Deputy Head Pastoral, Gordon Pearce, hosted a dinner for Worthians in Hong Kong on 23rd October 2015 whilst attending a school’s exhibition there.  This was held at the exclusive, members-only, China Club in Central Hong Kong thanks to a Worthian member and there was a great turn-out from across the decades; Robert Carroll (R’71), Nick Bodnar-Horvath (B’72) and his wife Helen, Chris Hunt (StB’85) and his wife Andrea, Sean Taylor (C’85)  with his wife Catherine, Justin Jaques (G’90), Marc McAlister (G’98), Keith Wong (StB’07), Maximillian McGowan (B’05), Alvin Chan (R’03), Mark Chan (B’03), Osvaldo Kwan (StB’03) and Ai Yoshino (B’03).  After a truly authentic dinner, nightcaps were taken on the terrace overlooking the lights of the City, and many new friends and connections were made.

On 2nd October 2015, we were delighted to host Ken Ross, Tim Hely, Michael Bray and David Greenland at a 50 Year Reunion for the Class of 1964/5 who returned to see just how the ‘Old Place’ had changed since their time here. Following tours of the School, we all attended Midday Prayers with the Monastic Community in the Abbey and then sat down to lunch with Frs Kevin, Stephen, Bede, Philip & Richard. Our Worthians were also thrilled to have Fred & Anne Belcher join us. The highlight of the day was looking through Fr Kevin’s scrapbook of the first few years of the senior school in which our fascinated attendees featured heavily!

The Good Lord sent the perfect blessing of a glorious autumn day for our Inaugural London to Worth Cycle Ride on Sunday 27th September 2015.  With 38 riders split into four teams doing a 40 or 60 mile route from Brockwell Park Lido, the route down was found to be challenging, even by the experienced cyclists, and the arrival times ended up being some staggered!  But all participants were received at the Finish Line into the Front Quad at Worth by a rapturous reception committee of families, monks and school staff.  After a hearty hot buffet in the School’s Pitstop Café, everyone went home with a big smile, despite the aching limbs, and vowing to do it again next year! The Inaugural Worthians Summer Rugby Festival took place on Saturday 5th September 2015 at the home ground of the Worthians at Whiteley Village with teams of Worthians fighting it out in a Rugby 7s competition for the ‘Silver Fox’ Trophy. Family and friends joined in the fun, with the ‘Belpassi Bros’ cooking their famous meatballs’.   The event concluded with an evening social event at The Goat Pub near Clapham Junction, to celebrate the beginning of what we hope to be another successful Worthian rugby season.

The class of 1985 Leavers’ 30 Year Reunion was held on Thursday 21st May 2015 at Worth School.  Co-ordinators Michael Gabriel, Gordon Moore and James Dunster did stirling work in tracking down 18 fellow Class of ’85 Worthians who joined them for School Mass, Schools Tours and a sumptuous 3-course dinner  in the Cowdray Room.  They were joined by Mr & Mrs Keith Owers, Mr & Mrs Roger Stokes, (Sister) Evonne Gubbin as well as Headmasters past (Fr Stephen), present (Gino Carminati) and future (Stuart McPherson)!

The Class of 2005 Leavers’ 10 Year Reunion was held on Saturday 18th April 2015 at the Army & Navy Club, 36 Pall Mall, London SW1Y.  James Longman (B’05) co-ordinated this black tie event which saw a fantastic 43 Worthians attending along with Fr Kevin, Fr Thomas and Alan Mitchell as honorary guests.  Click here for a full list of attendees.

Annual Worthian Mass to celebrate St Benedict’s Day.  Quite a gathering of Worthians turned out on Thursday 19th March 2015 at 7pm, at St Mary Moorfields Church in the City of London to celebrate the feast of St Benedict and remember deceased Worthians.  This year we were thrilled to have Luke Navin (F’14) as our organist before he headed up to Keble College Oxford as an organ scholar, and a choir headed by Ben Oakley (F’08) who was a choral scholar at Kings College Cambridge.  Fr Kevin Taggart and Fr Christopher Jamison concelebrated mass which was followed by drinks at Bangers Bar & Grill where people where friends caught up with each other and networked over jugs of ale and nibbles.

Our annual City Lunch took place on Thursday 5th March 2015 at Vivat Bacchus Restaurant, 1 Hay’s Lane, London SE1 2HB and was another fantastic event for Worthians to catch up with one another over a hearty steak and chips and one or two glasses of fine claret.  Despite numbers being down on last year, we were able to welcome 40 Worthians spanning all decades and a particularly strong showing from the ’70s decade.  Our very own Worthian Abbot Luke Jolly (C’71), Fr Kevin Taggart & Fr Stephen Ortiger were also in attendance to keep order!  Click here for a Full List of Attendees.
