2012/13 Worthian Squash Report

2013 Worthian Squash Season Report

Our spring fixture took place on Sunday 24th March 2013 and was arranged to coincide with Andrew Taylor’s ever-popular Worthians football tournament.  Unfortunately our inclement British weather put paid to that fixture, which had to be cancelled due to water-logged pitches – but the squash went ahead and, once again, we welcomed a good number of Worthians to play against one another.
In a repeat of last year’s result, the experience of Desmond Calnan shone through (in spite of him being another year
older!).  Desmond beat all-comers, although Jamie Griffith –another squash veteran – ran very close behind coming
second overall.  The other players who took part were Howard Brookman, Richard Stephens and Tom Lewis.  It was
also very good to welcome Will Kenney and George Ross who, although unable to play because of injury, came to add
their support.

On Saturday 30th November 2013 an impressive turnout of Justin Mould (StB’81), Harry Fisher (B’81), Howard Brookman (G’93), Stephen Barham (StB’94), Daniel Hughes (R’98), Thomas Lewis (G’05)  Matthew Doggett (F’07), and Guy Salimbeni (F’07), Ben Oakley (F’08), returned to Worth for our first Worthians Squash fixture of the 13/14 academic year against the best of the school players.
Once again I’d like to extend my thanks to our Worthian Squash enthusiasts who return to Worth to play in these fixtures – and we look forward to welcoming many more of you for the two fixtures we will be holding during 2014.  Please do respond to Mary Lou’s notice if you’d like to join us, or feel free to get in touch with me directly at:  We look forward to hearing from you!
